Rich Craft Studio
Bespoke solid-wood furniture, designed and built by hand in San Diego.
From the first sketch to the last coat of finish, each piece is drawn, built and finished by hand in San Diego, California.
How a commission comes together
Most pieces take 8 to 14 weeks from deposit to completion, depending on size and the current build schedule.
Designed / 3D model
Built / The Solana Night StandSee your piece before any wood is cut
Every commission starts as a 3D model built to your exact dimensions. You can study proportions, slat spacing, legs and details like cable openings, and see how the piece will sit in your room.
We revise the model with you until it's right, then price it with a fixed quote. Only once you approve the design does the build begin, and the finished piece follows the model you signed off on.

Five hardwoods, chosen board by board
All lumber is kiln-dried and acclimated in the studio before cutting. Janka hardness measures how well a species resists dents from daily use.
White oakStudio standard
Tough, stable and water-resistant. Rift-sawn for straight lines; quartersawn for shimmering ray fleck.
Black walnutStudio standard
Deep chocolate brown that warms toward gold. Pairs naturally with brass and pale inlay.
Hard maple
Pale, bright and very hard. The classic choice for end-grain boards and inlaid stripes.
Black cherry
Fine, even grain that deepens from pale salmon to red-brown with light.
White ash
Bold, open grain with natural flex. Well suited to benches and seating.
Common questions
Can a piece be made in a different size or wood?
Yes. Everything in the collection is made to order, so dimensions, proportions, species and hardware can all be adjusted to suit your room.
How long does a commission take?
Most pieces take 8 to 14 weeks from deposit to completion. Design takes one to two weeks, and the build itself six to ten, depending on size and the current schedule.
How is a project priced?
Each piece is quoted individually based on size, wood and detail. After the design stage you receive a fixed quote, so the price you approve is the price you pay. See the starting prices above for a guide.
Is there a deposit?
Once you approve the design and fixed quote, a 50% non-refundable deposit confirms the order. It reserves your place in the build schedule and pays for the lumber, which is bought and cut for your piece alone. Placeholder [When the remaining 50% is due, for example on completion.]
Can I buy a finished piece?
Yes. Pieces marked "Available" in the collection are finished and ready. Open one and choose "Request to purchase"; we confirm availability and payment details by email.
How do I care for the finish?
Every piece comes with care notes for its specific finish, including how to clean it and when to refresh it.
Rich and Dima
Rich Craft Studio is Rich and Dima, a husband-and-wife team in San Diego, California. Together we design, build and bring each concept to life, from the first conversation and sketch through joinery and finishing.
Because the studio is just the two of us, you work with the same people who design and make your piece from start to finish.
Design
We listen, measure and draw until the piece fits the room and the way you live.
Implement
We select the lumber and build every joint, surface and finish by hand.
Bring to life
We finish every surface and build in lighting where the design calls for it.
Furniture should be designed for the room it lives in, built from wood you can see and touch, and made to be handed down.
Drawn for you
No catalog sizes. Each piece starts with your room, your measurements and how you live.
Solid hardwood
White oak, walnut and maple chosen board by board, with the grain laid out to flow across the whole piece.
Two sets of hands
Designed, built and finished by the two of us, from first sketch to final finish.
Designed and built a few miles from the Pacific.
A good piece of furniture should outlast the person who ordered it.
Our workshop sits in the hills of North County San Diego. Every piece is designed, built and finished here by the two of us.
The work pairs clean, modern lines with honest materials: white oak and walnut chosen board by board, slatted fronts and inlaid stripes that catch the light, brass where the hand meets the wood, and lighting built in from the start.
